MXenergy Purchases Energy.com Accounts
Stamford, CT, September 25, 2001 MXenergy announced today that it has assumed over 4,800 gas distribution accounts that Energy.com currently serves in Ohio and Kentucky. Energy.com is a subidiary of Vulcan Corporation also known as Bemany.com.
Robi Artman-Hodge, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Office of MXenergy, said that the accounts, which include residential and commercial customers, will be transferred to MXenergy over the next 30 days. “We have acquired from competitors four books of business in the past so we are very familiar with the process,” she said.
Energy.com plans to notify customers by mail that their accounts are being transferred to MXenergy. MXenergy will also send customers a letter welcoming them.
Jeffrey Mayer, president of MXenergy, reported that all contract terms would be honored. According to Mr. Mayer, most Energy.com customers have variable contracts. “We will offer customers a chance to lock in prices for one or two years at today’s low levels,” he said. “But if they choose to stay on their current rate plan, we will endeavor to continue to save them money each month below the utility price to compare.”
The transaction has been approved by both local utilities in Ohio and Kentucky and by the Public Utility Commission in Ohio.
“We continue to abide by our motto: We keep our costs down and pass the savings on to you,” Mr. Mayer said. “I am confident that Energy.com customers will be pleased with the superior level of service that we deliver to our tens of thousands of other customers in five states.”
Mr. Mayer said that Energy.com customers with questions should call its call center at its toll free number, 800 785 4373. |
