Former Shell Energy Chief Executive Steven Murray Joins MXenergy as Chief Operating Officer

Credited with driving profitability at Shell Energy, Murray to play vital role in growth of expanded company

Stamford, CT—August 14, 2006—Steven Murray, the former President and CEO of Shell Energy Services Company, L.L.C. ("Shell Energy"), has joined MxEnergy Inc. ("MXenergy") as Chief Operating Officer.  MXenergy completed its acquistion of Shell Energy on August 1, 2006.

Murray will be a key member of the MXenergy executive team, overseeing operations, sales and marketing.  He brings his extensive experience in trading hydrocarbons and related risk management to the company and will be based in MXenergy’s newly formed Houston,Texas office.

”Murray held a variety of leadership roles at Shell during his 25 years at the company.  He became President and CEO of Shell Energy in 2001 and is widely credited with leading the company to profitability by implementing world-class systems, marketing, financial processes and risk management controls. 

Previously, as General Manager for the Higher Olefins and Derivatives businesses at Shell Chemical Company, Murray oversaw marketing activity in over 50 countries, operations for plants located in the U.S., U.K., New Zealand and South Africa, as well as research and development activities in North America and The Netherlands. A chemist and chemical engineer by training and a former paratrooper in the British Territorial Army, Murray managed Shell businesses engaged in chemical manufacturing, crude oil trading and retail natural gas marketing.
