MXenergy Offers Competitive Electricity Rates to
Connecticut Customers

Rates Lower than United Illuminating Co. through December 2007

STAMFORD, Conn., - July 18, 2007 – Connecticut residents now have an opportunity to save on power rates by selecting MxEnergy Inc. (“MXenergy”) as their supplier.  The Stamford-based energy company has just launched electricity service in the United Illuminated Co. (UIC) utility territory and is offering a cash rebate to customers who sign up for service.

MXenergy’s current offers include a rate of 11.8 cents per kilowatt hour through December 31st, which is lower than UIC’s current rate for residential customers.  The company is also providing a $25 cash rebate to customers who enroll before August 10, 2007.

“MXenergy can provide Connecticut residents and businesses with unique solutions to help control volatile energy costs at a time when customers of United Illuminating are facing bills approximately 50 percent higher than 2006,” said Jeffrey Mayer, president and chief executive officer of MXenergy. “We offer a way for customers to control their spending by providing services such as long-term price protection.”  

In addition to the standard rates, MXenergy is also offering its Earth Friendly Partnership to Connecticut customers for 11.99 cents per kilowatt hour.  This rate, which is guaranteed not to change until the end of 2007, funds the planting of trees that offset harmful CO2 emissions from electricity usage. 

The offer is available to residential and commercial customers in the United Illuminating Co. delivery area, which includes Ansonia, Bridgeport, Derby, East Haven, Easton, Fairfield, Hamden, Milford, New Haven, North Branford, North Haven, Orange, Shelton, Stratford, Trumbull, West Haven and Woodbridge.
