MXENERGY OFFERING EARTH FRIENDLY PARTNERSHIP
TO NATIONAL GRID CUSTOMERS

STAMFORD, Conn., - June 26, 2007 – MXenergy, a leading natural gas and electricity supplier, is now offering National Grid electricity customers an opportunity to join the fight against global warming by introducing its Earth Friendly Partnership to the area. 

The Earth Friendly Partnership enables customers to make their homes and businesses carbon-neutral by funding the planting of trees and grasslands that offset harmful CO₂ emissions from electricity usage.  A customer joining the partnership pays only a fraction of a penny more per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for power service, with MXenergy subsidizing the balance.

“The average U.S. family’s electricity usage produces 7.4 tons of CO₂ emissions per year,” explained MXenergy President and Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey A. Mayer.  “That is why we are offering Massachusetts residents and small businesses a new and easy way to offset the environmental impact of turning on the lights and keeping their homes cool this summer.”

MXenergy began offering the Earth Friendly Partnership to U.S. homeowners and businesses in early 2007.  To date, nearly 1,000 customers have signed up for the program, which was the first of its kind among natural gas marketers. 

The program is available to all commercial and residential customers of MXenergy in the National Grid utility district, as well as several additional states and provinces throughout North America.

According to company estimates, if all MXenergy customers went carbon neutral, the environmental impact would be equivalent to removing 700,000 cars from the roads each year.
