MXENERGY EXTENDS ‘EARTH FRIENDLY PARTNERSHIP’ TO
BRITISH COLUMBIA RESIDENTS
Nearly 1,000 U.S. customers already participating in program that offsets CO2 emissions from natural gas usage

STAMFORD, Conn., - May 1, 2007 – MxEnergy (Canada) Ltd., a subsidiary of MxEnergy Inc. (“MXenergy”), today began marketing natural gas products, including its Earth Friendly Partnership program, to residents in British Columbia. 

The Earth Friendly Partnership, which was the first of its kind among natural gas marketers, enables customers to offset CO2 emissions from the natural gas they use in their homes.  MXenergy began offering the program to U.S. homeowners and businesses in early 2007.  To date, nearly 1,000 customers have signed up for the program, which funds the planting of trees that naturally absorb harmful CO2 emissions and help reduce the effects of global warming. 

“As residential consumers in British Columbia evaluate their choices for energy suppliers, we are very excited to offer a ‘greener’ option with our Earth Friendly Partnership,” said Jeffrey Mayer, MXenergy president and CEO.  “We hope that many customers will take advantage of the opportunity to join us in the fight against global warming.”

Under the Earth Friendly Partnership, MXenergy pays half the cost to offset a customer’s CO2 emissions from natural gas usage.  The customer pays approximately ten cents per gigajoule to go carbon neutral, equivalent to approximately ten dollars per year based on average consumption.  The program is available to commercial and residential customers of MXenergy in several states and provinces throughout North America.

According to company estimates, if all MXenergy customers went "carbon neutral," the environmental impact would be equivalent to removing 700,000 cars from the roads each year.
