MXenergy Launches ENERGY STAR® Rebate Program

STAMFORD, Conn., – April 21, 2008 – April may be taxing to most Americans, but MXenergy can help customers keep a little more cash in their wallet and help the environment with a new program for customers who purchase an ENERGY STAR® labeled appliance.

New MXenergy customers who enroll online for an MXenergy natural gas or electricity plan and submit an ENERGY STAR® product receipt will receive a $100 rebate. 

"Our company helps homeowners and businesses protect themselves from higher prices,” said Jeffrey Mayer, President and Chief Executive Officer of MXenergy. “What better time than now to celebrate the spring and take the sting out of April taxes.”

According to a recent report from the International Energy Agency household energy use is on the rise, from 1990 to 2004, energy consumption by households increased to 26 percent from 23 percent.  Mr. Mayer noted “We can help reverse this trend if we reward those customers who purchase ENERGY STAR® appliances."

An average home that spends about $1,900 on energy costs every year can save up to $600 by switching to appliances that have earned the ENERGY STAR® approval. According to the U.S. Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency, if just one in 10 homes used ENERGY STAR® qualified appliances, the change would be equal to planting 1.7 million new acres of trees.

The offer is limited to one $100 rebate check per natural gas or electricity account per household or business.
