MXENERGY RENEWS AND EXPANDS SPONSORSHIP OF FAIRFIELD THEATRE COMPANY FOR 2008

STAMFORD, Conn., – March. 19, 2008 – After becoming a major Fairfield Theatre Company (FTC) sponsor in 2007, MXenergy, a leading natural gas and electricity supplier, has renewed and expanded its sponsorship agreement for 2008.

One year ago, MXenergy signed on as lead sponsor for the FTC Summer Chill-Out Music Festival, a free outdoor festival with live music, food and drinks and the event was relaunched as the FTC Summer CHILL-OUT Music Festival Powered by MXenergy.

Now, in addition to the summer festival, MXenergy will be a FTC Season Sponsor for more than 100 year-round events, including concerts, community activities and theatrical and comedy performances at Fairfield's FTC @ StageOne and FTC @ the Klein at Bridgeport's historic Klein Memorial Auditorium.

"Last year, our partnership with FTC showed such promise that we decided to extend and expand it in 2008," said MXenergy President and Chief Executive Officer, Jeffrey Mayer. "This new arrangement helps us bring top-quality entertainment to the region and supports an important cultural establishment in the FTC."

In addition to hosting theatrical performances, FTC has gained a reputation as an intimate venue for concert events. Since 2005, with family friendly Jazz and Chamber Music series, FTC has created a popular music series covering all genres, hosting local groups and national acts including Lesley Gore, Richie Havens, Josh Kelly, Pat Metheny, Dave Mason, The Subdudes, Marty Balin and Roomful of Blues.

“Our motto here at FTC is ‘Create Excitement,’” said Fairfield Theatre Company Producing Director Miles Marek, “and this exciting partnership started last year providing great live entertainment and cultural happenings to the Fairfield County community and we are very grateful that MXenergy has expanded its support for and generosity to FTC.”

Upcoming FTC @ StageOne and "FTC @ the Klein" events include:

  • Friday, March 21           Enter the Haggis
  • Saturday, March 22       Ryan Montbleau Band
  • Friday, April 11              New Riders of the Purple Sage
  • Thursday, May 22          English Beat
