KEMA: Energy Savings move into Texas market ‘significant’

KEMA retail chief -- Taff Tschamler -- sees Energy Savings Group’s move into the Texas market as “significant.”

Especially in light of MX Holdings buying Vantage Energy Services in the same week.

Tschamler finds it exciting that two of the top six or seven US residential marketers are getting into the Texas market for the first time.

He doubts Energy Savings got the 135,000 customers we reported yesterday (RT, 5/23) -- believing the number is much lower.

The market move is “important because there aren’t that many companies that have a significant customer base and less that offer long-term contracts,” said Tschamler, especially using door-to-door solicitation.

Energy Savings CEO Brennan Mulcahy had told us a day earlier his research showed no other firm in the Texas market offers his firm’s signature five year deals.

“We’re talking about real innovation there,” he added.  “It’s going to add to the competitive mix.”
