MXenergy begins serving Texas

Natural gas and electricity supplier MXenergy has entered the Texas market by acquiring substantially all of Vantage Power Services assets, MXenergy said Tuesday.

The Stamford, Conn.-based company said it began supplying power to nearly 2,500 former residential and commercial customers of Vantage last week.

MXenergy said it would retain nearly all of the Vantage employees, who would relocate to MXenergy's Houston office following a transition period.

The company did not have the breakdown of its customers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, but said it did serve the area.

"It's also our intention to grow the business in Texas, both residential and commercial," said spokeswoman Pamela Fink. "One of our main location targets will be the Dallas-Forth Worth area."
