
Interruptible Service
MXenergy offers two types of service to commercial and industrial customers—firm and interruptible. With firm service, the customer anticipates no break in service; natural gas will be available to the customer at all times at a specified rate. Interruptible service is the opposite. The customer gives up the guarantee of natural gas service at all times in exchange for a discounted rate. MXenergy does not determine when interruptible service will be curtailed. Service is subject to interruption at the option of the distribution utility (Atlanta Gas Light) usually when demand on the AGL system is highest. That means during cold weather. There are many factors that go into setting up interruptible service and that's why each contract is negotiated separately.
